For the 2nd time in a week or so, (1st time regarding dwarf beans ), I'm following Alys Fowler's advice, this time with regard to Swiss chard . Long story short, after midsummer plants which often bolt if planted in spring will resist the impulse to do so, probably because of shortening days; (I say shortening, but in Glasgow, in July, we're still getting 18 hours of daylight). I got a packet of Bright Lights , at a good price, (another reason to wait until July before sowing, lots of bargains, I've noticed). But where to sow them? Most of the 2nd bed is under a tarpaulin, but it wasn't quite big enough to cover the whole bed, so the last 5ft or so went under a sheet of plastic, (in the background of the photo in this post, here .) Transparent plastic was a foolish idea, weeds were growing underneath it, so I covered most of it with sheets of metal from the old shed. I decided to leave the tarp, but use the area beneath the plastic for the chard. Who-ah there
If you go to your blogger template and look for:
ReplyDelete#main
{
width: 410px
}
and change the 410px to 500px, it will all fit.
Just tried that - it pushed the sidebar down to the bottom. How could I move the sidebar a bit to the right?
ReplyDeleteAh, it's because #main is within #content and #content wasn't wide enough.
ReplyDeleteChange #main to width: 500px, and change #content to width: 750px, that might do it.
It's a great tip, but if you've done all that, and I think you have, you might want to look at the site on a computer with a 'normal' small monitor and see if you get those annoying scroll bars appearing.
ReplyDeleteThe other way to go is customise your Flickr-to-blog setting. Choose layout, choose 'original size' and then click on the 'customise' button. You'll get a box of code, that's the stuff that needs fixing.
You can strip out all the first bit from < style to /style > because that's just annoying bumpf. I change the tag from "photo sharing" which tbh is a bit weird, and I put in {picture_title} instead. But you'll see the sizing in there, and you can experiment and see what works best. Give me a bing if that doesn't make sense. I am getting my eyes tested tomorrow, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's wrong-ish somewhere.
Anyhow, apols, really thought I'd mentioned this before...
Blog is looking great, btw.
