Ashley again

Clearly, he's no pussy cat .  But what's he up to?  There's a story going around, apparently originating from somewhere near Ashley , that he's keeping us going to the tune of £2m per month.   It's hard to imagine someone so hard nosed would be throwing that sort of money around. There's still room for optimism.  Financially, we seem to be in a far less perilous situation than even Man Utd.  But one nightmare scenario is that Ashley's revenge on us will turn out to be far cleverer and more ruthless asset stripping than even the fucking Glazers are capable of.

Shearer on Hughton

I can'd find reference to this story anywhere else , so assume the reporter actually spoke to Alan Shearer, and that perhaps had been approached by him.  If so it's interesting because he seems to be putting a bit of distance between himself and the job.  Which is decent of him, really, because you've got to wonder how serious he is about it.  If he saw himself as the new Keegan, as many Mags do, he really should be out learning his manager's trade in League 1 or, the nether regions of the SPL.  There are always jobs going.  My head was in the applied linguistics books at the end of last season, but from what I did see, he didn't do a great job.  And he's right, Hughton deserves a crack at it.

Learning to Play The Piano II

The M-Audio eKeys 37 might be a better idea to get me started.  It comes with learning software, and it's small enough to travel with me if needs be.  I could get started for less than £40.

Tom Waits: Discography

Here's a link to the wikipedia one.  The links to Amazon and Rolling Stone's discographies are broken.  (No, really: broken; not the Google Chrome "broken" which happens to every other link... ) Or there's always the authorised version .

Sneaker Wave: Joby Talbot

I caught this on Radio 3 by accident.  I've tried to listen to it again this morning on the iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qtn30 but some things aren't possible when you're caring for a wee child recovering from chicken pox, so I'm blogging it here as a note-to-self.

Fucking Hell!

The 10th Dimension

This is a note-to-self to watch this video: Apparently, it's best enjoyed after the ingestion of a certain herb.  But I wouldn't know anything about that.

Learning to Play The Piano

Better late than never. I like the look of the M-Audio KeyRig 49 . And this looks like the best learning software , though it is a bit pricey, costing as much as the hardware.   This isn't as fancy and, it's half the price - which means I could get the whole kit and caboodle for about a ton, (though I'm always loath to buy software which features the word "deluxe" anywhere).

"If we play like that we'll be ok."

Yup.  Getting beat 3-0 is a recipe for success, you dopey twat.   And if you fail, you can always blame the fucking ref, eh?

"I smelled bullshit a mile away"

Indeed.

It looks a bit better than shipais.

Scottish Football

Football is filling the void left by the MA.  There's no way I'm putting any money into the pockets of the Bastard Murdochs , and anyway, watching football on telly is like having sex through a letter box.  Naturally, I'd love to start following Newcastle again, but it's a four or five hour drive to home games, much more further south for all of the aways.  Anyway, I'm surrounded by Scottish Football, (there's loads of it on Radio Scotland , for example), so it's time to get to grips with the game here, and leave English football as a more distant interest. Being non-partisan gives me a lot of choice of a Saturday.  From the SPL alone there's St Mirren , Rangers , Celtic  , and Kilmarnock , and Partick in the First Division, all less than an hour away by public transport. I could go further afield if I got a taste for it.  It'll be a hoot.

Googlemail and Firefox

Googlemail just isn't working (except in the basic HTML form) with Firefox. Don't know why. So I've gone over to Chrome. It's troublesome, and reminiscent of Microsoft's antics of a decade or so ago, when their applications would only work with their browser. The fuckers.

4-5-1?

The links here are interesting. I'm going all technical with football since I started reading Inverting the Pyramid .

Joseph Beuys

This is a note-to-self. Joseph Beuys . Got the idea here .

NUFC Fascinating Facts No. 2: Wayne Routledge, a one minute wonder, but not in a bad way

Routledge scored in the first minute of his first full game for Palace , against Wolves. He was 17. Not bad,eh?

Newcastle v Cardiff City

There's a good preview of tomorrow's game at the party bets blog .
